Pelagic Birds at the Tyee Spit
Earlier this week a jaeger and a Fork-tailed Storm-Petrel were seen at the Tyee Spit! Currently, the Tyee Spit might be the best location to bird in the area.
Recent Migrants
Two male Western Tanagers and a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE were seen in the Beaver Lodge Forest Lands on 16 May 2012. Also in the area were three Olive-sided Flycatchers.
Most warbler species are present in Campbell River.

Green Heron and Terns
A Green Heron was found this morning at the Courtenay Airpark marina. Also, the Caspian Tern flock at Tyee Spit has revealed three tern species so far. Any observers should check the flocks for terns with forked tails.

Redhead
There was a male Redhead on 06 May 2012 at the drainage ponds at McLauclin Place in Courtenay. More information about the Spring Bird Count witll come.

VESPER SPARROW
A Vesper Sparrow was seen on McPhedran Road on 3 May 2012! It had white outer tail feathers.
